3CR CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
with 24 hours of women's broadcasting [on 855am]
featuring live indigenous women's music, highlights from the IWD rally and
march, a FREE LUNCH, and a futuristic hypothetical night broadcast live from
Trades Hall Council.
3CR's International Women's Day 1999 will be celebrating the theme "Working
Women of the World Unite in Action". 1999 is also the 70th anniversary of
IWD in Australia, a year in which we need to reflect on the achievements
women in Australia have made and plan for the challenges ahead in the 21st
Century.
3CR's special 24hr broadcast will include:
12 midnight
Opening party featuring the vivacious personalities of Fiona Sewell, Cheryl
Cameron & Vicki Negron.
2 - 6am
Fantastic dance grooves for the late night set.
7 - 830am
Breakfast show explores the theme "FEMINISMS UTOPIAS" through interviews, a

"Women on the Line" features Women and the Trades.
9.30 - 1030am
Talkback hosted by Meredith, Cynthia & Barbara looks at "Women activists:

World Women's Beat will be broadcasting live from Little Victoria Street as
3CR closes off the laneway and presents great Indigenous women's music from
DEB MORROW AND THE FLYING EMUS, KELLI HOWELL and a well known "mystery guest".
Listen and dance to the music on the street, while you enjoy a FREE LUNCH -
so bring along your friends, family, kids and laughing gear to 3CR's first
official International Women's Day Street Party!!!

The afternoon on 3CR will be jam packed: AMIDA - hearing from women with
disabilities about issues of importance to them; a special EARTH MATTERS
examines how Marxism fits into the paradigm of ecofeminism; a unique
documentary by Rachel Maher and Michelle Evans, talking up ideas around post
feminism and women rock artists. Featuring exclusive statements from the
infamous COURTNEY LOVE and examining the place of role models in young
women's political development.
7pm
WOMEN'S RADIO PLAY produced, edited and performed live in the 3CR studio by
many well trained and wonderful actresses!! & broadcast live to Trades Hall.
Come join the cultural set at Trades Hall New Council Chambers from 7pm to
enjoy the creative talents of 3CR women.
8pm
THE MAIN EVENT
3CR will be hosting a not-to-be-beaten HYPOTHETICAL NIGHT, to be held and
broadcast live from Trades Hall at 8pm. Suspend Disbelief for 2hours and
join a truely amazing & diverse panel of visionary women to explore what
could happen to Australia by the year 2020. Feminism has been competitively
tendered out to business conglomerate "FEMCORP". What can happen in the
future with genetic cloning, cyborgs, Aboriginal sovereignty, a republic,
Stott-Despoja Democratic Labor government, human's living on Mars???
Come have your say and question the expert panel featuring among others
Charmaine Clarke, Lynette Dumble, Annie Delaney, Sue Turnball, Kate Davidson
& Jenny Morgan.
