IWD - women workers united in action:
On Monday, March 8 [International Women's Day & Labour Day] women labour
activists celebrate the struggles of our sisters through the years & their
strength & courage in fighting against injustice, inequality & oppression.
Women workers solidarity in Asia-Pacific region:
Gwynnyth Evans was an Australia Asia Worker Links delegate to the anti-APEC
Asia Pacific People's Assembly, held in Kuala Lumpur in November 1998. She
talks about the conditions & issues facing women wrokers in the region & the
growth of solidarity links between women working against globalisation &
privatisation. In particular, alternative organising methods in the free
trade zones where unions are illegal.
Outstanding Women:
Nominations close on March 31 for the annual Outstanding Women of the Year
in Non-traditional Areas Awards. Ros Harris, from the National Centre for
Women [which hosts the awards], explains.
