The Women's Rights Action Network is setting up a tribunal to run in May at
the Melbourne Town Hall. They are seeking eight testifiers (from all
different Human Rights catagories-- indigenous, young, aged, lesbian,
mental health etc). The testifiers will testify their personal stories in
front of an audience and three tribunal members. The tribunal members are
yet to be finalised by the network is aiming for people like William Deane
and Pat O'Shane.
The outcome hoped for is publicity about women and human rights so that the
government will enact legislation with regard to civil rights. It's a kind
of "what happened after the Beijing Conference" get together. The project
is to review the five-year plan decided at the conference.
