The Torch

The crew who developed the "The Essentials" and "Mechtron" are
currently working on their next community theatre production. This is
the third in a series of projects exploring issues effecting the
lives of people living in late 20th Century Australia.

Based on verbal accounts from ambulance officers and victims of
domestic violence, "The Essentials" exploring the nature of power and
the abuse of power. Set against the background of the restructuring
of the Victorian Ambulance service was a graphic portrayal of
domestic violence and the misuse of power.

Set against the school closures of the early 1990, Mechtron examined
the destruction of the Victorian education system, the inappropriate
use of technology to control people and the destruction of our sense
of community.

Under the auspices of the Ecumenical Migration Centre and supported
by a wide range of migrant, welfare and educational bodies, The Torch
will explore Australia's cultural identity, challenge past and
present codes of race relations, affirm the spirit of reconciliation
and promote a dynamic vision of future human relations in this
country.
