Thanks

YOU ARE NEEDED AT THE:
RALLY FOR THE CHILDREN OF IRAQ
Tuesday, April 27, 12.30 pm
Garema Place, Civic
According to UNICEF, the sanctions imposed against the people of Iraq by
the UN Security Council in 1990 have led directly to the deaths of over a
million people, over a half of them children. The sanctions deprive the
people of food and basic medical supplies. Each month, between 4,500 and
6,000 children under the age of five die because of the sanctions.
Ramsey Clark, former US Attorney General, calls the sanctions "a crime
against humanity". He says they are "genocide by Security Council imposed
starvation and illness."
UNLESS THE SANCTIONS ARE LIFTED, THERE IS NO END IN SIGHT TO THE SUFFERING
OF THE CHILDREN OF IRAQ.
And, while a further humanitarian disaster is created in the Balkans, the
US and Great Britain continue their regular low-level illegal bombing of Iraq.
MEANWHILE THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT HAS JUST SENT ANOTHER SHIP TO THE GULF
TO HELP ENFORCE THE SANCTIONS.
COME AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE LIFTING OF THESE SANCTIONS. BRING YOUR
FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
DR. SUE WAREHAM, A CANBERRA GP WHO HAS RECENTLY VISITED IRAQ, WILL SPEAK OF
HER EXPERIENCES.
