Tommy Sheridan won a seat for the Scottish Socialist Party to the 
Scottish Parliament. Tommy was one of the key leaders of the anti 
Poll Tax movement in the early 1990s, and is a part of the majority 
wing of the SSP which is affiliated to the Committee for a Workers 
International. He received 5,611 constituency votes, coming third 
(beating the Tories and Lib-Dems). The SPP got 11,000 West Scotland 
regional votes (approx.) on the regional additional members' list, 
which were enoug=h to elect Tommy. New Labour is the largest party in 
the Parliament, with the SNP second and Liberals third. An expelled 
Labour Left MP standing as an independent won the other non-main 
party seat in the Parliament. Karen McKay won a second seat for the 
Socialist Party on Coventry Council, joining Dave Nellist. In a first 
past the post system she won 1350 votes against 1250 for New Labour 
and 120 for Scargill's SLP.
