EXHIBITION OPENING 5.30, Tuesday, 18 May
Join us at the opening of a new exhibition of Kathleen McCann's paintings
from Belfast. There will be Irish fare on offer.

For Kathleen, the works fuse together memories of her early life in Belfast
with her responses to the city during a recent visit. She speaks of the
difficulty of grasping, as 'normal' life, an urban world in which a working
week of shopping and family life could be shattered at random by Northern
Ireland's 'Troubles'.

The exhibition continues until Friday 4 June, so you could catch the last
night at our big wine and cheese night. More on this next week.

Our cafe is now a going concern as a display space for visual creative
work. Kathleen McCann's exhibition follows an exhibition of paintings and
prints by Mark Dober, 'St George, St Joan and the eight hour day'. A good
crowd gathered on 16 April to hear Professor Stuart Macintyre open this
exhibition. Stuart added some historical and political background to much
of the built environment around Trades Hall and the State Library which was
the focus of Mark's work on display.
