This Thursday May 20th at 7.15pm there will be a screening of the new
release film "American History X" as the Cinema Nova in Lygon Street
Carlton.
"American History X" is a powerful and thought provoking story about racism
and violence in contemporary society. It portrays the imprisonment and
transformation of a young charismatic leader of a "white power" movement in
the U.S.. The film stars Edward Norton, Edward Furlong and Beverley
D'Angelo.
Tickets are (normal prices) concession $7.50 and full-price $11.50. The
film is rated R, so sorry kids can't come.
Profits from the screening will go to publicity leading up to June 18,
resources on the day and potentially a support campaign in case people get
nicked on the day.
In case you haven't heard....June 18 is an international day of action
against Globalisation - with the aim of bringing financial centres around
the globe to a halt. We encourage all groups and individuals to organise
their own autonomous actions, demonstrations and celebrations on the day to
highlight our common resistance to the forces of global capital.
So - please come along and see American History X on May 20th and PLEASE -
start dreaming about how much fun you can have on June 18.
