POLITICS IN THE PUB:
WEDNESDAY 16th JUNE
Profits from Prisons?
Issues about a private prison in the ACT
There are compelling arguments for the establishment of a prison within
the ACT. The current situation of interstate incarceration is clearly
untenable. But what kind of facility should we have in the ACT, and who
should run it?
The move is on to establish a private prison in the ACT. Is this the wave
of the future? Or is it better to maintain government control and
operation of prisons? These are some issues which now face the ACT
Community.

ANU Law School (specialist in contracting out)
