' NATIONAL'

INDEPENDANT COMMONWEALTH MEDICAL
ASSESSMENTS FOR  DSP's & INJURED WORKERS
UNDER THE 22 POINT SYSTEM

DATE:-       4th September 1999 (Saturday)
TIME:-       9am  -  5pm (extended if necessary)
VENUE:-    247 Flinders Lane.MELBOURNE
4th Floor.
COSTS:-     $5.00 Per head including food.
costs to cover hire of venue.
REGISTRATION  CLOSES.  end  JULY 1999

This consumers conference is to discuss issues of the points system method
that 'independant Commonwealth Doctors are asked to use by the Commonwealth
Government in assessing a person's eligibility to remain on the DSP or to
access it.

Discussion & Speakers are called for to identify the unfair scales of
points to the huge medical problem that will fester later in life.
1.     Being told you can work when you can't.
2.     An unfair  'Appeals Tribunal'
3.     How to handle your compensation & gain a benefit
        as well, so as not to enter into the 'Poverty schene'
4.    How to maintain your dignity, self-esteem, pride & not
       feel a 2nd rate citizen.
5.    Marriage breakdowns, lost friends, not knowing where
       to receive help or the correct advice.
6.    DSP's   who are forced to return to the work-place to
       work under extreme pressure and receive little pay.
7.    DSP's who come under continual stress, anxiety, at
       keeping up the pace & feeling under threat if can't.
8.    Those who suffer an emotional/psychiatric problem
       and feel anti-social because of circumstances, in
       maintaining the pace they can not keep up in order to
       receive that little extra just to survive.
9.    Costs of medications, medical aids, HAAC services in
       the home to assist you and your family or just you if
       you live on your own.  Receiving support each day to
       ensure all is well.
10.  The treatment received by 'Contractors' from
       'Centrelink' to enforce you amount of interviews per
       f'night to get a job, or the 'Plenary Section' will be
      imposed upon you. Making it that you will be deducted
      funds from you benefit as a penalty.
11.  Over-payments and fortnightly deductions which is
      impossible to live on
12.  Affordibility of good quality food & not out-of-date
       food which can be injurious to your medical condition.

AGENDA  ITEMS  can be extended to Registered Delegates. Plus Registration
closes at the end of July.

request to National Executive.

If you can host a person from 'interstate' or the country please let us
know for our register book.  Those from the country & interestate needing
accommodation please let us know.
Being a Host to conference.  Typing,colating paper work.
answering phone. Giving out Conference Papers on Registration morning.
Helping with tea/coffee.
Ensuring people are comfortable.
Running errans for Conference Delegates needs.
SPEAKERS who have had first hand experience of the hardship and how they
are coping or not coping.
ENTERTAINERS of the above theme kind are welcome.

People wishing to display their handy work, crafts, or advertise their
special skills are also welcome.
Anyone who is in need of any assistance in getting their paper work
prepared or any assistance at all is welcome to make contact with us. =20
This consumers conference is a must for the 'consumer'.
DSP Australia Inc  representation at the 'live Budget Broadcast at
Centrelink'  did not fall on complete deaf ears.  The Minister is
interested in the above 'Conference'
Necessary documents are being sent down to us for this Conference.   If you
can volunteer to photo-copy and colate paperwork please notify our office.

Don't let this conference slip throuh your fingers, pick it up and run with
it. We are the only Pensioner Organisation that was represented at the
'Live Broadcast Budget of Centrelink' People can get copy of video from
City Club-rooms if they have equipment to copy video of this broadcast.
