On 5 July, Dita Sari, chairperson of the independent trade union PPBI and
chairperson of the FNPBI (National Front for Indonesian Workers' Struggle)
was released from Tangerang Women's Prison in West Java, Indonesia.
Dita Sari had been arrested because of her union activities, and convicted
to serve a 5 year sentence till 2001. She has been granted an unconditional
release.
The release of Dita Sari had been demanded by a trade union and human
rights campaign in Indonesia, Australia and internationally.

Indonesia.
