The journalists' Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance union (MEAA) hosted
a forum a few weeks ago entitled 'Setting the Standards for Political
Journalism in the 21st Century'. Hosted by Paul Barry, the principal
speakers were Pamela Williams, national affairs writer for the Australian
Financial Review, and Laurie Oakes, political editor for Nine Network News.
The forum coincidentally took place about the time of the breaking news
about the deal between John Laws and the Australian Bankers Association.
What are the implications when the media becomes the subject of itself?
