Act now to save this heritage listed building.
A new planning application has been made by the developer that seeks to
entirely demolish The House of the Gentle Bunyip at 94 Hodgkinson Street
Clifton Hill, and build 6 three storey multi dwelling units with ground
level garages entered off Gold Street.
The proposal completly ignores the heritage status of the area, and the
specific heritage listing of the Bunyip and its surrounding buildings in
the new Yarra Planning Scheme. This is a test case for the new Planning
Scheme.
The City of Yarra Council needs to be shown the strength of public opinon.
Objections must be recieved in writing by 5.00pm Monday 4 October.
Objections to previous proposals will not be considered as this is a new
planning appplication.
Send written objections to
City of Yarra
PO Box 168
Richmond 3121
or fax to 9205 5289.
State your name, address and the application number 99/1212.
Write the reasons for your objection.
The Bunyip House and its garden will be destroyed. Its social
significance to the community will be lost.
The proposed development threatens an important grouping of
heritage buildings on a landmark site, in a heritage conservation
area, overlooking the historically significant Darling Gardens.
