Coming up at the New International Bookshop we have:
David Lowe, Laurence Maher and Chris Waters AUSTRALIA'S COLD WAR
2pm Sunday 24th October
David, Laurence and Chris will discuss David's new book Menzies and the
Great World Struggle: Australia's Cold War 1948-1954. Amongst other things
David contrasts Labor and conservative approaches to the onset of the cold
war. Conservative commentator Gerard Henderson gave the book a side-swipe
in The Age (and if it gets up his nose it must be good!). David and Chris
lecture at Deakin University and Laurence Maher is a Melbourne lawyer who
has written extensively on Cold War legal history.
REMINDER
Our great quiz night is on Saturday 23rd October. We already have lots of
tables representing unions, activist groups, and some people who are having
a break from all that and just want to have fun. It's not to late
to book a table, or join one. Please email me if you would like to come.
