As many people know the World Trade Organisation will be holding it's 3rd
Ministerial Meeting in Seattle from November 30 - Dec 3rd.

At the WTO meeting the wealthier countries will be seeking to extend the
WTO's liberalisation agenda. One of the primary proposals to be decided at
the WTO meeting is whether to have a 'Millennium Round' - a comprehensive
round of trade liberalisation (similar to the Uruguay Round). Further, a
number countries are pushing for the WTO to expand areas where it has
current agreements including Services (Education, Health etc), Agriculture
and Intellectual Property Rights. Many countries are also seeking to expand
the WTO's agenda to include investment, government procurement and a global
forests products agreement.

Across the world, on November 30, hundreds of thousands of people will be
protesting against the expansion of the WTO and the detrimental impacts the
WTO is having on workers, women, indigenous peoples' and the environment.
Further November 30 will fosuc attention on the injustices of the global
capitalist economic system of which WTO forms an integral part.
