DAVID DAY discusses his new biography of JOHN CURTIN

David has written widely on Australian history and the history of World War 
II. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at LaTrobe University.

BOOK LAUNCH - NEW VOICES FOR SOCIAL DEMOCRACY

To be launched by Mark Davis and others.

In this book, Julia Gillard, Mathew Townsend, Christos Tsiolkas, Guy 
Rundle, Catharine Lumby and other younger writers have their say about the 
direction for the centre-left in Australia in the 21st Century. They 
challenge Australian social democrats to explore international as well as 
local solutions to the problems of inequality, cultural conflict and 
ecological destruction. Edited by Dennis Glover and Glenn Patmore.

DICK GROSS, mayor of Port Phillip, talks about his new book,  THE GODLESS 
GOSPEL. Expect the unexpected!

This will be followed at 8.00 by the Bookshop's Christmas break-up party.

BOOK LAUNCH - JOHN TULLY's DEATH IS THE COOL NIGHT

The book will be launched by Tony Dewberry.

They were schoolfriends in a small Bavarian town, but during the early 
1930s their lives took on different paths. Death is the Cool Night traces 
the life of the main character Otto Mehring through the deep south of 
America and Australia. Family history, political turmoil, love and much else.
