Hey folks,
You are invited to a screening of
'PEKING DUCK SOUP'
-How are we to explain the transformation of a People's Republic, founded
amid the genuine enthusiasm of the population in 1949, into a totalitarian
dictatorship. How can we account for the evolution of Mao Tse-Tung
himself: the most libertarian of the founders of the Chinese Communist
Party at 20, outlaw- hero of the people, he became the sinister potentate
of the most totalitarian rule the world has ever known.
The cinematographic method used is to turn official stockshots outside in,
to restore their true significance to newreels whose meaning was long since
lost to the western public after successive ideological rinses. Rene Vienet
proves that Mao Tse-Tung thought can be recycled as easily as other 20th
century waste matter.

This evening is also the Launch of an Art Exhibition starting at
Barricade. It will be running for four weeks. The Exhibition is
TWO SHOWS TOO QUEER
The Launch will take place after the films and will include wine and
snacks. If you can't come to the Launch, the shop is open 11-6 mon-fri and
11-3 on saturday and you can come to see it then.
