Get Your Taxes Off Our Bodies!
That's the slogan for a rally that's been called for Friday, February 4, at
5pm at the Melbourne GPO.
The rally is in protest at revelations in The Age that tampons and sanitary
napkins (currently untaxed) will attract the GST, pushing up prices by up
to 10 per cent.
Campaigners on street stalls in the past fortnight have had an excellent
response to a petition condemning a tax on women's bodies.
The rally has been endorsed by NUS national women's officer Helen Stitt,
NUS Victorian women's officer Jordy Hunter and Socialist Worker.
