People in East Gippsland urgently require donations and support in the way
of camping equipment, tarps, pots, woks, tools, mats, blankets and bedding,
wet weather gear and warm clothing and infrastructure to rebuild the
Goolengook camp. Nearly the entire camp was destroyed last night and the
weather is currently wet. The situation in the forests has deteriorated to
the point where numbers are our only safety. As attacks on activists in
East Gippsland and the Otways have escalated in the last week fear for the
safety of activists has become a major issue. Please if you can make it to
the forest get down there, for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. We
will not be silenced by violence. If you know of anyone or anyway of
getting camping equipment and gear for the people in the ancient forests of
east Gippsland please take it to Friends of the Earth or send donations of
money to GECO. Send emails of support to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Vigil TOMORROW, Wednesday the 23rd of February, 12 noon, Parliament House Steps
There will be a rally tomorrow at Parliament house to condemn the violence
in the forests at the moment. Environmentalists will not be threatened and
intimidated by violent acts form loggers. Please bring banners and
instruments. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED BY VIOLENCE.
Make your voice heard for the forests,
Svea
