Model Sustainable House Project
Urban design and development is a key environmental concern, particularly
with the growing awareness that it's in the cities that the resources are
consumed, the bulk of the pollution produced and the majority of the
population live.
In the bayside suburb of St Kilda in Melbourne local community and
environment groups are currently working to create a model house that
raises awareness on urban environmental concerns and encourages activism in
and outside of the home. It's an "ecohouse" on the edge of the St Kilda
botanical gardens. Today we hear from a range of people involved in the
formation, coordination and the initiation of the "ecohouse".

PNG Environmental Law Centre
Just last year an Environmental Law Centre was established in Port Moresby,
Papua New Guinea, to deal with litigation surrounding mining, forestry and
marine concerns. The Coordinator of the Port Moresby environmental law
centre is Ursula Rakova and she recently visited Australia. 3CR's Jan
Bartlett caught up with Ursula and today on Earth Matters we hear about the
range of environmental and land rights issues that affect PNG and just what
sort of role the Environmental Law Centre plays.
