Dear colleague,
many postgraduate activists will be interested to know the Manning Clark
House Foundation is organising an all-day forum on the future for Australia
and Timor, at Federal Parliament House on Friday 5 May.
The keynote speaker will be Xanana Gusmao.
There will be speakers on behalf of the Government and Opposition, and a
speaker on behalf of the Indonesian Government. Richard Woolcott, James
Dunn, and Professor James Fox will also be speaking.
The price for attendance, including lunch and refreshments is likely to be
$60/$40 (waged/concession).
I shall send a further Email to this list, confirming precise cost,
speakers, and times.
At this stage, Manning Clark House is seeking financial assistance to
ensure that the event is a success, engendering real understanding within
the Australian community of this extremely important new international
relationship. If your postgraduate student association can donate anything
towards the event, or you know of any other groups or individuals who can
do so, please contact me directly, by Email or telephone (03-9329-7432).
Any such assistance will of course be gratefully acknowledged.
Likewise, if you have any further questions about the event, please contact
me directly.
Regards,
Tom Clark.
