Sent on behalf of the Friends of Westgate Park: PLANTING DAY: 18TH JUNE Westgate Park lies under the Westgate Bridge. The eastern side of the park provides the closest public access to the Yarra River Mouth. The Friends of Westgate Park have received a grant to plant 10,000 seedlings in the year 2000, to help regenerate the region. We have planting days every third Sunday, the next one being June 18. We start at 11am and go until 5pm, with a vegetarian BBQ provided at around 2pm. We also have planting preparation days on the preceding Wednesdays, starting at 9am and finishing at 2pm. [On these days no food is provided.] On all days it is a good idea to bring your own hat, water, raincoat, and if you have them, gloves and tools. Melways ref. 56 E1.
