In support of Kosovar refugees whose visas expire on 30 June, and in
support of asylum seekers in detention.
Opposed to deporting the Kosovars, and opposed to mandatory detention of
asylum seekers arriving without visas. Promoting compassionate treatment
and recognition of human rights of asylum seekers. Promoting links between
ethnic groups affected by Australian refugee policy, and human rights
groups, and other groups (including Aboriginal people) affected by the
current government's world view of Australia, i.e. excluding vulnerable
groups from power and prosperity.
Organised by Justice for Asylum Seekers, an alliance of human rights
groups, ethnic communities, religious groups, etc.
Theme: WELCOME to refugees from persecution, expressed by welcome mats
(bring one if poss, some will be available)
