Subject: Victorian Water Resources Data Warehouse is now Online!

The Victorian Water Resources
Data Warehouse is now online.

The State Water Resources Data Warehouse, launched by Minister Garbutt
recently will substantially improve community access to information about
Victoria's water resources, in particular the State's water quality and
stream flow monitoring programs.

The data is accessible in an interactive, easy to use form over the
internet, providing for direct queries of the monitoring data, along with a
range of interpreted reports and summary information.

The site will be maintained and expanded to incorporate marine, biological,
groundwater and community monitoring information over the next year,
effectively providing a one-stop-shop for access to all the water resource
monitoring data collected in the State.

Water resource monitoring and reporting initiatives, such as the website,
the Victorian Water Quality Annual Report 1998 and a number technical
reports, also launched recently, aim to provide the public with
environmental information in order to promote informed consultation and
public debate on the health of our rivers.

The website can be found at: www.nre.vic.gov.au/vwrmn

Queries or comments relating to the Warehouse can be directed to:

Dr. Stuart Minchin
Senior Project Officer (Water Resources)
