From the 24th to the 27th of August, AWOL ( Autonomous Web of Liberation) is organising 4 days of Direct Action Training and Skillsharing, banner and decoration making, videos and opportunities to network, action and socialising. http://www.antimedia.net/s11awol It is the intention to run numerous workshops and skill-sharing workshops and room for banner making and informal networking. On Saturday night there will be a social event and on Saturday afternoon people are investigating transport options to make there way to the Xborder asylum solidarity demonstration. Workshops will also be running for those who do not wish to go to the Xborder action. http://www.antimedia.net/xborder On offer will be: Workshops on, amongst others ( lots of new stuff, and enough practice is not enough ): - Theory and practice of Affinity groups - Consensus decision making - Non-violent Blockading Techniques - First Aid - Non-violent Evasion - Action brainstorming - Use of Cameras at demonstrations - Xborder action - Legal briefings - First Aid - Lock ons - Banner and Puppet making Please note that some of the workshops are physical and involve fun games and being hands on. They are designed to provide a comfortable space for involving yourselves. There will also be space for banner and prop making. We are endevouring to run as many workshops as often as possible so that even if you are only able to attend for a short time you will have a variety to choose from. Food and Childcare will be provided. Please for safety of Children etc, No Dogs. Free Information only. No Journalists. $ 5 per day. Starting at 10 am to 5pm every day. Come one day or them all. This will be an excellent opportunity to hook up with people and find out what is going on. On the Thursday 24th at The Old Northcote Bowls Club will be ( as usual ) an AWOL meeting, where various groups working on things like, Convergence, Communications, First Aid, Workshops, Skillsharing and publicity etc attend.
