The S11 Alliance has called two further actions, before and after S11 itself.
1) On Friday, September 8, there will be a "Welcome to Corporate Melbourne"
tour of the city, starting at the State Library, corner of Swanston and
Lonsdale sts, at 5pm.
The route will take in some of the corporate HQs in the city, plus Nike,
McDonald's, etc. We will swing across the river to Esso and Crown Casino
before finishing back on the north bank at Docklands Stadium to leaflet the
thousands attending the Nelson Mandela meeting.
The aim of the rally is to give an opportunity for interstate and Melbourne
activists to march together, begin to get to know each other better, and to
give people a feel for who we are protesting against and where their
offices are.
The rally is NOT counterposed to activities on S7 and S8 which affinity
groups might want to call, but is a way of bringing us together publicly
after two days of convergence.
2) S11 Alliance has called a solidarity rally with the Prague demonstration
against the IMF and World Bank on September 26. Details to follow.
