PUBLIC MEETING presented by Socialist Alternative, one of the groups
involved in S11.
COULD THERE BE A REVOLUTION IN AUSTRALIA?
WHEN? Thursday September 21, 7.30pm
WHERE? New International Bookshop
Trades Hall, cnr Victoria & Lygon Sts - enter from Victoria Sts.

SA supports struggle from below, rather than reliance on bureaucrats or
politicians. The protests sweeeping the world against the effects of
globalisation raise the question of how fundamental change can be won. The
protests show the capacity of workers, students and oppressed groups to
fight our rulers. However, to completely sweep away the garbage of
capitalism we will need a revolution.
This raises questions about what that revolution would look like, and even
whether it is possible in Australia. We think it is, and we think it will
only succeed if masses of people have confidence in their own creativity
and strength. However, there are many lessons that can be learnt from past
struggles. So Socialist Alternative tries to keep those lessons alive while
learning new ones from struggles as they occur.
