Dear friends,

The KCTU Homepage http://www.nodong.org/english/index.htm has been updated
with information about the trade union movement, social movement, and civil
society's response to the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM).

ASEM -- a process of cooperation by 15 European nations and 10 Asian
countries, culminating in the Summit Meeting which brings together the head
of states of all member countries -- will hold its third Summit Meeting in
Seoul in October.

In response, the KCTU, together with nearly two hundred people's
organisations, social movements, and civil society organisation in Korea
and many more from Asia and Europe, organises a conference entitled "ASEM
2000 People's Forum" with the theme of "People's Action and Solidarity
Challenging Globalisation".

The Forum is composed of nearly 30 separate workshops in 13 thematic areas,
including the Trade and Economy Forum and Labour Forum workshops in which
the KCTU is deeply involved in organising.

Apart from the forum where the agenda of the people will be discussed,
there will also be a day of action, involving a large scale people's rally
and street march. The action on October 20, the first day of the Summit
Meeting, is named "ASEM 2000 Seoul Action Against Neoliberalism".

For more information, visit our
homepage http://www.nodong.org/english/index.htm. You are invited to be
part of this action and effort in what ever way possible.
