Just a reminder that the East Timor Community Computer Project will be
having a benefit at The Empress Hotel (Corner Scotchmer and Nicholson
Streets, North Fitzroy)on Thursday October 19th. Doors open at 9pm, entry is
around $5 and bands playing are Thee Stag Knights, Curse Ov Dialect,
Interstater and Wagons.
The ETCCP currently has two members over in Dili where they are making
contact with activist and community groups to supply computers and training.
The area in which they are living is still fairly devastated as most
reconstruction efforts by the UN are going into rebuilding the commercial
districts whilst living ordinary residents without decent housing. For this
reason the ETCCP is seeking donations of building and electrical materials
and children's clothes and books as well as computers, lap tops, monitors,
etc. We have a container going over to East Timor fairly soon so if you have
