A one day conference is to be held on November 11 at Melbourne University,
to consider ways forward after S11. The Conference was called by
Earthworker, and is called "N11 conference: A Day of Reflection and Strategy".

As readers of the Workers' Liberty list will already be aware, we have been
proposing campaigns against specific corporations, as a way to keep the S11
activists together around meaningful struggles, through which we can grow
and learn. Accordingly we have formulated the following draft proposal to
put to the N11 conference. We are seeking comments, amendments and
endorsements, in order to finalise it as soon as possible for the
conference organisers.

So - please let us know what you think.

"The success of the S11 blockade and protests in taking a stand against the
right of global capital to rule the world, revealed new prospects for a
movement for radical change in Australia, as well as the diversity of our
interests and ideas.

We can stay together, continuing to derive inspiration and educate our
movement, by planning further action and directions for campaigning, within
a framework that respects the diversity of the movement.

We propose the basis for further campaigns against global capital lies in
targetting specific global corporations, known for their violations of
workers, women's and indigenous rights and disregard for a sustainable
environment. We seek to unite diverse interests, including existing
campaigns and trade union struggles which have already laid groundwork for
placing demands on major global corporations. We specifically emphasise the
value of organising workers and unions who potentially have the strongest
position from which to challege global corporations. We
seek to challenge the right of corporations to rule the world by placing
demands on them for workers' rights, to reveal their business secrets,
finances and plans for public scrutiny, and we challenge them to clean up
or cease all anti-social projects and plans.

We propose that post-S11 gatherings seek to identify which corporations
make the most suitable targets for priority campaigning over the next few
months, identify specific demands, allies, and difficulties to be overcome."
