REFUGEES ARE NOT CRIMINALS!
End mandatory detention!
Let refugees stay!
Funding for settlement - not detention!
Repeal the Border Protection Act!
PROTEST AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE=20
SUNDAY DECEMBER 17 @ 1PM
Raise your voice for human rights! Protest on the eve of the trials of the
refugees being charged with involvement in the August protest at the
Woomera Detention Centre.
The rally on December 17 will demand an end to mandatory detention of
refugees; increased funding should not be spent on razor wire and water
cannons, but on settlement services for refugees - counselling, language
and employment programs, housing and health services: all refugees must
have the right to permanent residency - the government must repeal the
Border Protection Act (which denies the right to permanent residency for
any asylum seekers that arrive without visas - allowing only for a three
year temporary visa.)
For more information about the rally or about solidarity with the refugees
whose trials begin on December 18, phone 8231 6982.
