In conjunction with next Monday Night's Recuisine Machine Cafe, the Sydney
Housing Action Collective <SHAC> together with Squatspace Gallery, offer a
video presentation about "Leoncavallo", a long-running squatted social
centre in Milan, Italy.
The video shows the process of the eviction of the centre in 1994, and
exposes some of the scurrilous political tactics employed by the
authorities to kick out the occupants of Leoncavallo and defuse
possibilites for revolutionary enclaves.
The video will be introduced and translated by an Italian squatting
activist and artist.
A discussion will follow about the practices of some of the Italian
squatting movement and the model of the social centre in urban struggle,
and the possibilities for Sydney Squatting.
