Ten years after Australia's signing of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child, the rights of children and young people remain an issue of debate
in the community. You are invited to attend a WORKING CONFERENCE ON THE
RIGHTS OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

The Conference will bring together relevant agencies impacting upon young
people's rights, improve community understanding of the Convention and
young people's rights and develop strategies for agencies and government
to enhance young people's rights in Victoria.

All who are working with children and young people in housing, health,
education, justice, protection, employment, recreation, drug and alcohol,
advovacy, etc; community and welfare agencies
policy makers
state and local government
Those concerned about the rights of young people.
How the day will work?
Prior to the conference, all participants will be provided with brief but
comprehensive materials explaining the Convention and the issues faced
currently by young people in Victoria.
Conference participants will attend two workshops, which will build on the
discussion paper by developing strategies for agencies, workers government
and the
communty. The strategies will enhance the rights of young people and
improve their involvement in decisions that affect them.
