Rio +10 International Workshop
It's nearly 10 years on from the first Earth Summit and next year Rio +10
will be held in Johannesburg in South Africa. It will be a time to look
back on the challenges and achievements of the last decade. In the lead up
to Rio +10 Canberra will host a workshop for environmental activists from
around the world. Today on the show we speak with workshop coordinator,
Sarojini Krishnapillai.

"Rio - Time to Choose" is the slogan on a postcard targetting mining giant
Rio Tinto. Rio Tinto is now the primary shareholder in ERA - or Energy
Resources of Australia - after it bough up North Limited just last year.
It's ERA that still oversees the proposed Jabiluka project and thus Rio
Tinto is now being pushed to not sell or develop Jabiluka. We hear from
Friends of the Earth campaigner, Loretta O'Brien, outside Rio Tinto in
Melbourne on the day of the postcard launch.
