STOP THE WOMENS JAIL is a community organisation set up in response to the
state gov's plans to build a $42 million new womens prison in south
windsor. We believe that the money should be spent looking after victims
and in areas such as health, education, housing, rehabilitation and other
support services rather than to fund an archaic and short sighted system
of punishment which has proved itself again and again to be ineffective.
We aim to stop the jail, and raise community awareness about the many
alternatives to incarceration. For more info contact Justice Action on
9281 5100 and check out www.justiceaction.org.au
AID/WATCH is a community based, not for profit, activist group that
campaigns on Australian involvement in overseas aid and development
projects, programs and policies. We aim to ensure that aid money reaches
the right people, communities and their environments. While AID/WATCH
supports communities overseas, we also work to educate the Australian
community of how their aid dollar is being spent and what impact it is
having. AID/WATCH believes that increased awareness of the reality of
international aid will lead to programs that truly benefit local
populations internationally. For more information and to get involved
