Hi All,
A National Day of Action against the GST has been called by the Socialist
Alliance on the 1 year anniversary of it's introduction.
On the 30th of June, the GST will have been in effect for 1 year and it has
already proven to have hurt the poor and benefited the rich. This is also
at a time when corporate tax has fallen from 36% to 30%. Surveys have
consistently shown that a majority of people feel they are worse off under
the tax and that a growing section of for its abolition.
Socialist Alliance branches across the country will be organising local
protests to condemn this regressive tax. The Northside branch of Socialist
Alliance will be organising a picket of the office of local Liberal MP Joe
Hockey. I encourage everyone to help build the protest and come along on
the day.
