The Gellibrand candidate, JORGE JORQUERA will be hosting this dinner to
launch the western suburbs Socialist Alliance election campaign. This will
be a great opportunity to get together with other activists from the West
and get involved in building an alternative to the pro-corporate politics of
Liberal and Labor.
The dinner & celebration will feature live entertainment and a delicious three
course meal! This is a must for all SA supporters and new comers.
Jorge Jorquera left the Labor Party in 1985 after the betrayals of the Hawke
government. As a socialist he has since been involved in founding the
National Union of Students, as a solidarity activist with pro-democracy
movements in Latin America and South East Asia, and as a trade unionist now
in the Australian Education Union. He is a long term anti-racism campaigner
and is currently involved in the campaign to close the Maribyrnong Detention
Centre.
All welcome! Should you need it, a taxi service will be available from the
Yarraville train station between 7 and 8pm- look for the Socialist
Alliance Banner!
