"REMEMBERING FORGETTING - A Journey of Nonviolent Resistance to the War in East Timor" by Ciaron O'Reilly Ciaron's book will be launched around the world beginning next week in Sydney and then on to Melbourne where Rod Quantock will do the launching. Readers of Leftlink may not be familiar with Ciaron's East Timor solidarity work. You may know him from other anti-globalisation and anti-nuclear peace work. * Ciaron O'Reilly took part in the S11 blockade, being part of the seated group stampeded by police on the morning of Sept 12. Moments after this he stopped a bus of delegates by standing in front of it before being dragged off and beaten by police. He was also instrumental in raising money for the injured. Ciaron's reflections on S11 are available at: http://www.geocities.com/londoncatholicworker/melbourne_blockade.html * As a result of disabling mining equipment at the Jabiluka Uranium mine site, Ciaron served several months in Berrimah jail Darwin in 1998 and 2000. * Ciaron has also spent a year in US prisons for his part in disarming a B52 bomber during the Gulf War in 1991. * Ciaron is currently based at the London Catholic Worker. http://www.geocities.com/londoncatholicworker/ Come along to one of the book launches and hear him speak.
