RAC (WEST) invites people planning to come to the Rock Against Racism on Nov
24 to bring gifts or Christmas presents for detainees and asylum seekers in
our community. The gifts will be collected at the event & given to the
Asylum Seekers Resource Centre to distribute amongst people in detention and
those on temporary visas living throughout melbourne... any good quality
toys, clothes, even movie vouchers etc etc are welcome, but please do not
wrap them.
there will also be an opportunity to write messages to the detainees during
the rock against racism.
finally although the concert is "free", we are requesting that people bring
some money to donate, even if only a few coins. This is necessary because of
costs incurred by the sound system, stage & council requirements.
dont worry, if youve got no money or gifts we still hope for your company on
what looks like being a fantastic day.

Hall, crn of Lygon & Elizabeth Sts, or the Resistance bkshp at lv 5, 407
swanston st, melb, opposite rmit).

refugee rights. A concert & protest on the doorstep of our "local camp",
where people are being imprisoned for the crime of fleeing desperate
situations.
This event comes at a crucial time- the bombing of Afghanistan has not only
increased refugee numbers, but has incurred a violent racist backlash
internationally with mosques being burnt down & people with middle eastern
appearance being attacked.
Don't wait for more people to drown of our shores; don't accept the
governments racist anti-refugee drive. Join us to ROCK AGAINST RACISM
