Drug users of the world unite.... The Victorian Drug User Group, VIVAIDS, is holding a mass meeting of drug users to organise for resistance to the war on drugs. The meeting is intended as a forum in which drug-users can discuss the issues that effect them and the ways in which we might seek to resist. Beyond this purpose, however, the meeting is intended as the beginning of a new, on-going group operating through VIVAIDS, open to all users and meeting regularly to organise around the issues that affect users. In other words, a new attempt to involve large numbers of users in working together. The meeting will take place:

Stop Police Torture, Sexual Assault and Humiliation of Drug Users Police routinely use the reality or fear of pain and sickness to extract statement from drug-users who cops know don't want to go through withdrawal in a police cell. We've all seen cops stop people on the basis of appearance, age, ethnicity, or previous encounters and strip-search us as a means of intimidation, often in the absence of anything remotely like reasonable suspicion. Prevent Methadone Addiction - Legalise Heroin Only when the War on Drugs makes life as a drug-user too difficult would anyone agree to become addicted to a drug that is harder and more painful to come off, causes bodily decay, and is only desirable because heroin is illegal and expensive while methadone addiction is administered by governments relatively cheaply precisely to entice people into addiction to an "acceptable" substance.
