A peace vigil/tent city started up on the Lawns outside the State Library
in Swanston Street opposite the Melbourne Central station at 5.30 pm
yesterday.

All activists opposed to the war are urged to visit and if possible stay a
while and to publicise the vigil through all available channels. I believe
that this vigil will help to build a mass movement against the war by
discussions with interested passers by and will act as 24 hour a day 7 days
a week organising and information centre.

More than 20 activists braved the cold and rain last night and have pledged to
maintain the vigil until the the war ends.
