Hi,
First of all apologies to anyone who gets this more than once (eg through
both the AWOL and loveandrage lists).
Thanks to everyone who got back to me about our website
(www.angry.at/racists).
Firstly the problems. The main problems people came up with were -
"the popup ads are irritating"
"it crashed on me"
"the code has a lot of rubbish in it"
"it looks like a Word document".
The code does indeed have a lot of garbage in it, as I'm using the world's
worst website generator - Microsoft Word. If anyone can write a more
efficient version of those pages and get to me with them I'd be more than
grateful.
It shouldn't keep crashing - if it does, let me know.
The popup ads are the price of having a website on geocities. I've altered
the page so the ads at least won't cover any text. But if anyone knows of
a server which doesn't have popup ads, please tell me. It'd need to be
something where I can upload files straight away (at the moment I'm
changing the site almost every day and I often change it, check it on the
web, then change it based on that).
It no longer looks like a Word document! I've fixed it up most of the
pages and will do more as soon as I can. I think it looks better - please
let me know.
Now the good parts. People seemed to think the site was a good idea,
especially the main part of it where you can download mp3s, videos etc.
I've added a couple of new things - some more Consolidated mp3s (in the
electronic section), some videos by a Puerto Rican anarchist punk band
called Ricanstruction (in the punk/metal/noise section), and Freedub, a
small collection of hip hop/dub tracks featuring people like Chuck D from
Public Enemy and Dead Prez (in the hip hop section).
Thanks to the person who suggested a couple of local anti-racist rappers,
we'll chase that up ASAP.
Anyone who knows of stuff we should add, whether it be theirs or someone
else's, please get back to me - pass this on to other people to, especially
outside of Melbourne; we don't really know much about local bands elsewhere.
That's about all I have to say for now. We might be concentrating on the
text side of the site in the next little while. Coming up soon we have a
flier about the extreme stupidity that is 'Nazi Metal'.
