Action in Solidarity with Asia and the Pacific (Sydney) presents:

Campaigning against corporate tyranny and war in the Asia-Pacific

The imminent war on Iraq; the attacks on civil liberties in the name of
anti-terrorism; a growing climate of militarism in the region; the
stepped up offensives against independence movements in Mindanao, Aceh,
West Papuathese go hand in hand with the growing domination of
multinationals, neoliberal policies and the IMF/World Bank/WTO in the
Asia-Pacific region.

Come and hear reportbacks from three regional activist meetings held
recently to discuss neoliberalism, war and the anti-terror laws:

Rex Rumakiek, UN lobbyist for the Papuan Presidium Council and a leader
of the Free Papua Movement, attended the counter-summit to the Pacific
Islands Forum in Fiji.

Tim Anderson, well-known civil rights activist and researcher, will
report back from the Regional Workshop on Democracy and Security of the
People in the Asian Region, held at Nakhon Nayok, Thailand. This
workshop issued an anti-war statement for Human Security, not National
Security.

Iggy Kim, from ASAP Sydney, attended the Asia-Pacific Social Movements
Conference and the International Council of the World Social Forum in
Bangkok. These meetings discussed plans for an Asian Social Forum in
India, January 2-7, 2003.
