In addition to its commissioned publishing schedule, Overland invites scholarly & journalistic submissions on the following themes to consider for publication in 2003: Corporate welfare White collar crime The working poor Public space (surveillance, graffiti, private occupation of public space, civil versus corporate rights & police powers) 'Dysfunction', diagnosis and public health Features on other themes with a broad left political focus will be considered. Preference will be given to well-argued, hard-hitting essays that shed new light or take a radical angle on an area of public concern. Scholarly essays are refereed. Submissions from women are encouraged. Overland is a quarterly literary journal founded in 1954. Its motto is: Temper Democratic, Bias Australian.
