We of Little Voice
Synopsis
We of Little Voice reveals the effects of uranium mining and nuclear
testing on indigenous communities in South Australia. In the 1950's the
British Government tested nuclear bombs in northern South Australia.
These days, there are mines and waste dumps. The indigenous communities
in the region have concerns about how the fallout from the testing and
the risks of mining leaks impact on their communities.

Indigenous anti-nuclear campaigner, Kevin Buzzacot, goes on a journey
through northern South Australia to hear the stories of Aboriginal
elders who have experienced the effects of the nuclear industry.

This is the first time many of these elders have told their stories to
the public.

Trespass
Synopsis
Impossible odds, a culture threatened with extinction, an inspirational
fight for survival. Less than thirty Mirarr people remain alive today.
Their language and cultural survival is threatened with extinction. But
their gently spoken leader, Yvonne Margarula, has led the Mirarr on a
campaign of resistance that has stopped successive Governments and two
of the world's largest mining companies, in their tracks. Trespass is a
poetic statement of defiance from a woman who will make you believe that
any fight for freedom can be won.

This event is held in conjunction with Cinema Nova - Novadose
Proceeds to the Irati Wanti Campaign

Irati Wanti is the inspiring and unrelenting campaign of the Kupa Piti
Kungka Tjuta. The Kungka Tjuta are senior Aboriginal women from
Antikarinya, Yunkunjatjara and Kokatha nations who have been campaigning
to defend their land and their culture against a proposed national
radioactive waste dump on their land.
