Colin Fox's first appearance in parliament typified the Scottish
Socialist Party's political, unconventional and irreverant style. When
asked to take an oath to the Queen, Fox, much to the distress of the
Speaker of the House, began singing his favourite anti-Monarchist song!
The SCOTTISH SOCIALIST PARTY has succesfully united 95% of the socialist
left in that country and in May this year won 6 seats in the Scottish
Parliament (receiving up to 28% of the vote in some areas). Inside
Parliament and on the streets the SSP has championed campaigns against
the war, exploitation & injustice.
Fox was one of the Scottish Socialist Party activists to be elected to
Parliament. Formerly the regional organiser of the SSP in the Lothians
he co-organises the Edinburgh Mayday Festival and founded the Edinburgh
People's Festival in 2002. Fox was a Labour Party Young Socialist, and
went on to become a founder member of the SSP.
Fox will give discuss successes, lessons and challenges in the the fight
for socialism in Scotland and how his party is winning popular support
for socialist solutions.

In the last thirty years Humphrey McQueen has become one of Australia's
foremost radical commentators & historians.
>From his groundbreaking 1970 essay A New Britannia through to his most
recent work The Essence of Capitalism McQueen has consistently exposed
the myths of capitalist "civilisation" in Australia and the world.
McQueen's analysis of politics & economy are a must for anyone trying to
make sense of the world today.
