Protest against George Bush's visit
- Get on the bus to Canberra
US President George W. Bush is on his way to Australia - he is scheduled
to address a special joint sitting of federal parliament in Canberra on
the morning of Thursday October 23rd. He will meet and personally thank
John Howard and his government for participating in the illegal and
immoral war on Iraq. With the US-led occupation of Iraq continuing, and
threats being made to other sovereign nations, this is an important
opportunity for the peace movement in Australia to say no to the US war
agenda and the Howard government's support for it.
The Victorian Peace Network, a coalition of faith groups, trade unions,
community and political organisations will be organising buses to travel
to Canberra, to participate in protests against the US President.
If you want to join the buses, please send your details and a deposit to
VPN (below). Buses will travel overnight to Canberra on Wednesday
evening 22nd October and return the next night. You will be contacted
with more details once you have booked your place. The cost will be
about 50 dollars.
