We're kicking off a bump year with a very special event this weekend ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MUSIC OF THE TREES - OYNSEMBLE MELBOURNE A collection of illuminated manuscripts by ANITA HUSTAS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bass player Anita Hustas <http://anitahustas.customer.netspace.net.au/> believes strongly in the power of the natural world, which has inspired her latest composition for Oynsemble Melbourne. Drawing from the universal symbology of trees, Anita has created a beautiful work which explores humanity's long-term relationship with nature. Music of the Trees will have its first performance in the intimate setting of Trades Hall's Old Council Chambers. Oynsemble Melbourne is Australia's premier large ensemble of free improvisors, playing deeply felt music drawn from the jazz tradition and from musical and spiritual influences from across the globe. Co-leaders of the band Adrian Sherriff and Ted Vining have been leaders of the Melbourne improvised music scene for many years, and commissioned Hustas, with the assistance of the Australia Council, to explore and develop the huge potential of this stellar group.
