A fundraising screening for the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) of the acclaimed film VERONICA GUERIN with a stunning performance by CATE BLANCHETT SUNDAY FEB 8TH, 6.OOPM FOR 6.30PM screening Cinema Como: Cnr Chapel St & Toorak Rd, South Yarra In the mid 1990's, one of Ireland's top journalists, Veronica Guerin of the Sunday Independent, confronted head on, the powerful drug lords feared in Dublin. Her articles painted a vivid picture of a dangerous world that many in the country had not yet focused upon, making her a sworn enemy of the city's underworld. Her efforts cost Guerin her life but galvanised the Irish public to bring about change, halting the underworld's destructive endeavours. Veronica Guerin is a strong tribute to one of Ireland's heroes: a woman who refused to be intimidated in her pursuit of justice. All funds raised are in aid of The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA).
