Very Nice Joe.
Can you take a few more pictures of your 90 deg. tilting mech. of your Z axis?
(that really looks SWEET! ) I honestly believe that turning on a face plate is
one major piece that Legacy missed out on with there old machines. (OK I know
that I will hear, complaints on this one, Legacy made the turntable to do stuff
like that... But its not the same!) I think you will be surprised on how handy
it could become...
Keep up the good work.
And Thanks for sharing .

today's progress/update...again, not a lot to show...received the linear
bearing carriages a day or two early so that was a nice surprise...set the
bearings into the rails and re-attached the router carriage assembly and the
rear plate to the "Z" axis...took out the top hats and drilled out the holes on
the router assembly plate to 1/4"...marked the second hole on the plate and
drilled those holes, also 1/4"...ran a 1/4-20 tap into the existing, linear
bearing carriage mounting holes that are pre-drilled...this was a snap as the
carriage is made of aluminum...reassembled everything...took the old lead screw
from the "Y" axis and set it in place of the original, shorter "Z" axis
screw...did not have to turn down the ends to 3/8", as i thought...they were
already turned to 3/8"... this was a straight swap...needed to add a spacer
black to shim out the black, threaded block that the lead screw goes into
to...approximately 3/4"...this will further project the center line of the
router bit an additional 3/4", but it is a necessary evil...with the rotary
table, the multi holed height plate and now the linear bearings, the router bit
center line is really out there...but the bearings help quite a bit to
compensate for the offset and the weight distribution problems it creates...and
i anticipate the counter weight will help out a lot, as well...but i will be
able to turn a 19" faceplate and have the router reach down and cut into it
with the router bit being 90 degrees to the faceplate...and if i should ever
need to do that before i die, i'll be as surprised as anyone else
here!...LOL!...anyway, next up is the counter weight, chain and sprockets to
set up the balance action for this mod...that will present some challenges, as
i can now see how that might come together...and it looks like it might not be
so pretty!...thanks for the read...joe
